We are working in the shipping industry for over 30 years and served in the most senior positions on board of ships and in shipmanagement companies. During this time we realized that there was a missing global platform which could serve as a link between the seafarers and shipping companies. The development of Portalmare started in 2010.  

We focused on the main essential issues which we wanted the software to cover:

·        advertising space for maritime employers to raise their profile

·        24-hour global availability

In May 2011 we eventually have gone live with the software.

We decided that seafarers should be able to register for free, place their CV and manage their accounts on-line. Employers register for free. For an affordable fee they can place job offers or find seafarers suitable for their vacant positions.

Portalmare does not replace the need of Manning Agencies. Such agencies will still be necessary to mobilize seafarers for employers. In certain countries like the Philippines it is even a legal requirement. Portalmare will give all seafarers the chance to search for jobs from any place in the world with Internet access. Job offer are also send to registered seafarers by e-mail or can be received on mobile phones.
